Self–Hypnosis and What Can It Do for You
I attended the Introductory Lecture and Demonstration of Hypnosis conducted by Santhosh Babu on 22 August 2010 at our Karuna Wellness Centre. I observed the techniques Santhosh used for induction of hypnotrance and realized that the techniques are simple enough and effective to be applied on yourself – immediately, even without going through the proper workshop!
Guess what? I started using them for myself almost immediately.
In these two weeks of practice I also discovered that they hold a great potential for my profession. As a Pranic Healing practitioner, I follow certain practices and have certain requirements.
In this article I will describe my personal experiences of various uses of self-hypnosis.
Contrary to common belief that the person becomes physically and mentally paralyzed and gullible to any suggestion from outside, I would say that there is not such ‘hypnotized’ feeling.
In a trance state, you continue to be aware of the background noises and the physical environment. You also know that you can return back to the normal physical consciousness any time you want.
The difference is that in hypnotrance the mind shifts to a different mode of functioning. The conscious mind which was running on foreground shifts to the background while the greater consciousness becomes accessible. One can also describe this phenomenon as shifting from a linear perception to non-linear.
1. Better meditation
Many people complain that they cannot meditate because they cannot still their mind. How to go into a calm space within you?
Induce a light trance for yourself and then, instead of the command ‘Deep sleep’, give yourself the command ‘Meditate’. Your conscious mind will ‘go to sleep’ while you, the bigger consciousness, will be able to pilot yourself anywhere you want.
Bring yourself out of meditation gently by using the counting out technique of hypnosis. This is much better than abruptly coming down to your physical senses as practiced by some people.

A Bucket Bath with Sea Salt and Essential Oils

Natural sea salt is rich in minerals. When showering, our skin, through osmotic pressure, absorbs natural mineral salts and expels toxins.
Sea salt bath helps to reduce pain and soreness, relax tense muscles, sooth inflammation, improve circulation and hydrate tissues.
For skin diseases (e.g. eczema) you can apply salt water locally with the help of a spray bottle. Add 2 drops of Tea Tree oil, a powerful antiseptic.
Procedure
1. Take a bucket of water. Water should be about 36-37 degrees C (body temperature).
2. Add a handful of sea salt. Dissolve the salt.
3. Add 3-5 drops of natural aromatic oil(s) and mix.
4. Use a dipper to pour water over your body. Simultaneously gently massage the skin with your other hand.
5. At the end of the procedure you can wash off the remaining salt with fresh water. The fresh water should be cooler that the salt bath. Alternately, if salt does not irritate your skin, after bathing allow your skin to air dry, wear a cotton gown and rest for 20 min.
Salt bath is beneficial in:
Skin diseases

Gynecological diseases
